Given that every commercial electrical appliance requires PAT testing, this qualification is a very useful addition to the skillset of any practicing electrical professional. Every item of electrical equipment in a commercial environment is required to be PAT tested, that is it has been tested as being safe to use and has been marked safe, whether it be a kettle, toaster or computer.
